A Weekend We Won’t Forget

Last week, my son had to be hospitalized, and let me tell you—this part of parenting is not for the faint of heart. For two days, my little sloth clung to me and his daddy as he faced wires, tubes, and more pokes than anyone deserves in a lifetime. He wasn’t a fan of the experience (understandably), but he powered through like a champ, with plenty of snuggles and kisses to get him through.

I wish I could say I handled it all with perfect faith and grace, but honestly? My prayers were a mix of desperate pleading, shaky trust, and some messy “Lord, help me” moments. Being a parent will do that to you—especially when your little one is scared and there’s not much you can do but be there. I can honestly say it’s the worst feeling in the world.

Now that we’re home and my son is happy, healthy, and back to his usual self, I am attempting to look back and see God’s faithfulness in the chaos, even though even that feels daunting - as I fear the things I felt and said in the middle of the tough moments. It wasn’t always pretty, and it reminded me how much grace I need—and how much He always provides.

If you’ve ever been in a tough spot as a parent (or in life in general), I hope this serves as a little encouragement: you don’t have to have it all together. God’s got you, even when you feel like you’re falling apart. We serve a God that doesn’t hesitate to pull us out of the sea when we start to sink. He isn’t moved by our doubts. He is so much bigger than our failings.

And for now, we’re soaking in the snuggles and keeping our fingers crossed for no more hospital visits!

With love and laughter,

Piper
